Building an Each For Equal World - Happy IWD 2020

Happy International Women's Day
Since 1911, the achievements of women have been celebrated all around the world on International Women’s Day.
But the day also highlights the work that remains to be done in order to achieve an enabled world.
While there has been some progress, the world is still far from achieving her full potentials.
At the current rate of progress, it will take another 108 years to reach gender parity, according to the World Economic Forum’s most recent Global Gender Gap report.
The biggest gaps to close are in the economic and political empowerment dimensions, which will take 202 and 107 years to close, respectively.
These are quite some huge numbers, sadly, but it’s the reality before us.
The good news is that we can do something about it.
We can intensify our commitment to an equal world by giving men and women same and equal opportunities in work places, homes, politics and society at large.
Does the rise of women mean the fall of men?
Since the outcry of the perpetrating gender imbalance, women have taken up front rows in advocating for an #EachforEqual world.
This however, does not sit well with some people.
Truth is, women are scaling up the corporate ladder, going into politics and making tremendous societal, cultural and business impacts.
It’s a fiercer environment now, no longer a question of gender, but of significant contribution and diversity of thoughts.
But what does this mean for the male gender? What do all these mean when evaluated under the #EachforEqual mandate?
Is it a battle to dethrone men, show dominance and favor women?
No! it is not. It is neither war, nor is it a competition…okay maybe just a little. 😊
The rise of women is simply a call that women and men; girls and boys, should enjoy the same rights, resources, opportunities and protections.
And if you are a man, realize that you are an ally to this movement too. In more recent years, men as advocates and champions of change have been recognized as playing a key part in accelerating women's equality.
So, as you join us to celebrate International Women’s Day; do it gladly, knowing that the rise of women is not the fall of men, but the creation of an equal world; an enabled world.
YOU have a role to play in forging gender parity.
In whatever environment you find yourself, you can lead the course to dismantle any systems that denigrates women in any capacity, here’s why;
· Our children will thank us for it.
108 years. That is the total number of years it will take to reach gender parity.
That’s a long time, we certainly will not be around by then, only perhaps our children and their children.
What this means is that the world our children and future generations to come will inherit depends on us and what we do today.
Wouldn’t you love your children to experience a world where women are able to compete side by side with men for equal opportunities? An equal world?
Creating an #EachforEqual world is the responsibility of all. Even though women are at the forefront championing the course, it is not a “woman’s thing”.
No matter the position you occupy; at home or at work, there are ways you can contribute positively towards gender parity.
The world would gain over $160 Trillion by closing the gender gap
Empowered women transform societies, yet, women are still underrepresented – ironic isn’t it?
Despite the fact that women have shown the capacity to contribute significantly to economic growth, we will have to wait till 2036 to gain equal representation at board level.
“Board rooms suffer from a crisis of conformity because the board rooms look too similar the world over.” Halla Tomasdottir, CEO, The B Team.
Every gender imbalance we’re experiencing today is costing the world good money.
We have to change that because the world bank has said that the world would gain over $160 Trillion by closing the gender gap.
And that’s why at Page Financials, we’re continually reviewing and setting up level playing grounds for all hires – male or female – supporting, appreciating and celebrating women’s contributions to our growth.
We believe that gender balance is as much our duty to have equal women representatives as it is to increase our economic power.
We urge you to join us as we join the rest of the world in contributing to gender balance, closing the gap and putting the right people in power irrespective of gender.
